At mang’Oh, we believe the practice of yoga is a celebration of life. We aim to create an oasis in the city that allows you to reach your optimal physical and spiritual well-being, building the strength and serenity to live your life with beauty and abundance.
When Erica discovered mang’Oh, she was running around New York City teaching at various studios, gyms, and living rooms. At the time, mang’Oh had a tiny community and was in need of some love and inspiration. In 2007, she, along with her business savvy sister and dearest friend Cynthia, purchased and reinvented the studio. Today, mang’Oh has become the place they always dreamed it could be: a sweet yoga sanctuary full of heart and soul.
Erica is in love with the practice of yoga. She profoundly believes in its healing effects for the individual body and spirit, as well as the collective whole. She delights in teaching beautiful and expressive asana classes in the hatha vinyasa style. Every day, she is inspired by and grateful for all of the students and teachers that call mang’Oh their yoga home.
Erica has a BFA in Ballet and Modern Dance from Texas Christian University, and she received her yoga certification through Laughing Lotus Yoga School. She lives in Astoria with her husband, Evan, and their two little ones, Charlie & Lila.
While Cynthia was in business school in 2007, her sister, Erica, had the inspiring idea to buy a fledgling yoga studio in Midtown. She believed that this neighborhood studio had heart, and just needed a little love from two sisters. Little did they know that this small business would turn into such a big adventure. Cynthia is ever thankful that Erica’s passion for yoga has brought them closer as sisters and business partners.
Cynthia believes that good businesses can make the world a better place. When she’s not running the business of mang’Oh, Cynthia works with nonprofits, social entrepreneurs and philanthropists in South Africa. Her love for South Africa began many years ago: as a recovering management consultant, she spent several months living in South Africa, and later co-founded the US branch of an organization providing support to orphaned and vulnerable children. Cynthia is inspired daily by the people and organizations with whom she works.
Cynthia has an MBA from INSEAD and a BA from Georgetown University. She lives in Cape Town with her husband, Chris, and their two kiddos, Harry & Eva.
