The Inspirationals: Samantha Cobos of Nest PURE
1 May 2015
Every other week, we do a short profile of someone who has been successful creating a career out of doing what they love. We call it The Inspirationals and we hope they will inspire you too!
Why do we love Samantha Cobos?
Samantha has combined her love of textiles with her interest in sustainable living. In her design work, Samantha works with organic and recycled fabrics, reclaimed materials, rapidly renewable materials, locally produced products and efficient fixtures and appliances to reduce the footprint of home design on the environment. Her fun and fresh textiles are grown, woven and printed in the USA, keeping things close to home. Even better, her eco-friendly products are value conscious at less than $50!
How was Samantha inspired to create NestPURE?
Samantha started her career as a computer programmer, and then shifted to interior design, owning her own interior design firm in the Minneapolis-St Paul area for 7 years. Along the way, she found herself gravitating toward environmentally-friendly design and the benefits of using eco-friendly design in the home. Her studies inspired her to launch a new design firm dedicated to incorporating environmentally friendly elements into home design, finding ways to blend comfort, beauty and functionality with environmental sustainability and energy efficiency.
Quotable: Samantha on never giving up…
“You might be surprised to know that I’m self-taught – I don’t take classes, I just try to figure things out on my own and I never give up. ” (from her interview with Styleture)
How would we describe Samantha in one word?
Versatile. Samantha has used her talents from her previous careers (computer programmer, interior designer) to help her launch her retail business. She isn’t afraid to try something new and is open to learning as she goes. We wish her the best in this new endeavor!
