The Dessert-Board Decadent Chocolate Bark

Every other week, Nikita heads to the kitchen to test out recipes we think the mang’Oh community will love.  As a twist on the usual healthy fare, our recipes are usually sweet treats that incorporate an abundance of fruits, veggies, whole grains and nuts.  We believe that “real food” treats eaten in moderation can add some fun and variation to a healthy, plant-based diet.  We hope you’ll try them out and let us know what you think!

I have seen chocolate bark all over the internet and Pinterest, so I thought that I would make it to go with my dessert board. It is as yummy and easy as everyone says it is. The nice thing about this is that you can choose what toppings to add to it and you can put it together in minutes.

I used pistachio nuts as the topping and they are high in fiber which is great for weight loss. They also contain many vitamins such as vitamin B-6 and they help to lower the risk of heart problems. This, combined with dark chocolate, makes for a great pick-me-up and on-the-go snack!

2 Slabs of Chocolate ( I used dark chocolate)
1/2 Cup Pistachio Nuts (take the shells off and crush the nuts)
1 Cup Cranberries

  1. Melt the chocolate (I used a double boiler)
  2. Pour the chocolate in a baking tray lined with baking paper and spread it out ( see picture)
  3. Top with the cranberries and pistachio nuts
  4. refrigerate until the chocolate has hardened and then break it up and serve
