On the Silver Lining, or How to Rejoice

“We can complain because rose bushes have thorns, or rejoice because thorn bushes have roses.” – Abraham Lincoln
Just a short post this month! I apologize for so many stories about my little boy, but honestly: children are so wise. We recently enrolled my son in a school quite a long way from our home. It was a tough decision, primarily because we were worried about what the long commute each morning would do for our son.
One morning recently, we were battling with the traffic on the highway as usual. I was playing the decision in my head once again: what was this long commute doing to our little one? Suddenly Harry’s voice perks up from the back: “Mommy, isn’t it nice that we get to see the beautiful mountains and sky while we are stuck in this traffic?” I looked above the snarled line of cars to see a gorgeous sun rising from behind the back of iconic Cape Town’s Table Mountain.
Oh yes, my boy, it surely is.
What roses will you rejoice in this month?
